Pation Outdoor Furniture
The adage “you get what you pay for” works for everything from car repair to online dating. While bargains are often to be had and worthwhile, there are some areas of life in which skimping may end up costing you more throughout the lifetime of the item than if you would have purchased the higher end item in the first place. Among these items is high quality furniture for your home – inside and out. Certainly, when just starting a family, one doesn’t want to have the best of the best – and who can afford to pay premium prices on furniture at those times anyway?
However, there comes a point at which the kids are grown up more and you want something more than colorful plastic outdoor furniture for your barbeques. When this time comes, you have several options from which to choose. Among these are powder coated aluminum, cast iron, or wooden outdoor furniture made of varying materials. There is a type of outdoor furniture which suits every family’s budget and lifestyle.
Each of the materials listed above are good choices for outdoor furniture for the deck or patio. Depending on your climate, space, storage options, and budget, some may be more suited than others.
Powder coated aluminum
Powder coated aluminum is a popular choice for many because of its versatility and low maintenance requirements. Powder coated aluminum comes in a variety of shades and can easily be coordinated with your home colors. It is resistant to rusting and can remain outdoors year round in most climates (in areas with consistent and deep snowfall, storing the furniture may be the best option). Aluminum is heavy enough to withstand most windstorms and is not likely to be blown around the yard in a summer blustery day.
Cast iron is classic in its style. It is the heaviest material of those which we’ve mentioned and will withstand mild spring zephyrs as well as high winds without blowing around the yard. Most cast iron is coated so as to be rust resistant, but chips in the coating will expose the furniture to moisture and it will rust. The weight is a drawback for many since it is very difficult to move.
Wooden outdoor furniture
Wood outdoor furniture is classic in its appearance and versatile. Most wooden furniture requires some form of maintenance in keeping it protected with painting or staining. (This is not the case if you have the Rolls Royce of wooden furniture – teak outdoor furniture, which does not require staining, oiling or painting.) Wooden furniture doesn’t blow around the yard and can match any outdoor décor.
